Jeju Ocean View Pension Every Room at Jejuollero Faces the Sea

Not every "ocean view" is the same

"Ocean view" is a common phrase when you are choosing a place to stay, but often it means a sliver of sea in one corner of the window, or only a few rooms facing the water. Jejuollero was built with the whole building facing the sea head-on, so every Studio and every Penthouse faces the ocean without exception. Nothing stands in front of it. The only difference between rooms is how high above the water you are; from any room the sea opens all the way to the horizon. Lying in bed, making breakfast in the kitchenette, sitting on the sofa — wherever you are in the room, the sea is in view.

The living room's entire sea-facing wall is glass. There is no balcony or veranda, but the window is that much larger and the room feels directly connected to the water. On rainy days, sit by the glass and watch the waves; on clear days, open it and let the sea breeze in. At night the scene changes once more. The lamps along the seaside walkway reflect on the water, and in summer the lit pool lies right below the window.

The rooms face the sea to the north. In summer, when the sun rises in the northeast and sets in the northwest, both sunrise and sunset fall inside the frame of the living-room window. In spring, autumn and winter the sun rises and sets further east and west, so you will not see it directly from the room — but walk out to the seaside walkway on the shore right in front of the pension and you can watch the sun come up over the sea and go down into it. So we do not simply say "watch the sunrise from your room". In summer, from the living-room window; the rest of the year, a short walk to the shore.

A day at a waterfront stay

In the morning you pass locals walking or jogging along the walkway. During the day you go out across Jeju by bus or taxi, and in the evening you pick up food from the restaurants and supermarket within walking distance and eat it by the window, looking at the sea. This is a seaside neighborhood where Jeju people live, not the middle of a tourist strip, so at night there is nothing to hear but the waves. It is 15 minutes by taxi from Jeju Airport and well placed for heading out across Jeju, which makes it a good base to stay in for your whole trip.
